When I spied him I was like, ‘Oh my gosh,’ ” Johnson said. RELATED: 4 fab females right here at the Shore Her introduction to Monster Jam came about in 2010 while attending SEMA, the yearly automotive specialty show in Las Vegas, where she stumbled upon Dennis Anderson, a four-time Monster Jam world champion, and his son Ryan. She began competing in rock crawling competitions professionally in 2005, and in January 2011, she was given the opportunity to race for Monster Jam. Her hobby eventually turned into a career path when the competition bug bit her, she said. “We were just kind of junkies,” Johnson said. Her love came to fruition when she first married her husband and the two began four wheeling and camping in their 1972 Toyota Land Cruiser.
The 42-year-old has been immersed in the motorsports lifestyle since she was 19. RELATED: Asbury Park girl fights for her right to play baseballįor Johnson, however, she hardly notices that she competes in a male dominated sport. “They think it’s crazy, so sometimes I have to show them a picture. “It’s goes back to the stereotype of you know - I’m a girl doing this,” Johnson said.
She will be bringing her extensive driving experience to Jersey when she competes at 7 p.m.
She has 17 years of four-wheeling experience, and today she is most known as the woman behind the wheel of the Scooby Doo Monster Jam truck.
